SMALL GROUP WATERCOLOR CLASSES:

My small-group watercolor classes are designed for adults who have little or no experience with watercolors up to
and including intermediate-level painters.

(No advanced painters please.)

Allowing each student to progress at his or her own pace, these classes can accommodate a range of painting experience,
from those who've never held a brush to painters who are ready to take their work to the next level.  The small number
of students assures that everyone gets a lot of personal attention.  My goal is to assist each student in developing solid
painting  techniques using this "magical" medium.  C
olor-mixing, glazing, texturing, and painting "wet-on-wet" and
"wet-on-dry"
are the main emphasis.  Depending on the individual, instruction may also address creating successful
compositions, capturing light and shadow, making colors sing, and achieving depth in two-dimensional space.

    Class Size:     4 students
    When:           From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. - any day but Wednesday*
Cost:             Each five-hour session - $125 per student (deposit required at time of booking)
Supplies:        Students bring four brushes, five pigments, and paper as specified on the
                         Class Supply List,
plus their "brown-bag" lunch, and beverages

*Prospective students:  let me know the dates you're available!
When there are  enough for a class, I'll schedule one.
Please call me at (252) 995-3662 or email me.

The class "was something very new for me - amazing, rewarding,
and in a way, a very spiritual time.  I loved it."
-Suzanne Quinlan, Rodanthe, NC

"This was wonderful!  I will continue to paint and try the techniques
that I have learned in this class.  Thank you!"

-Linda Porter, Collington, NC

ONE-DAY and TWO-DAY WORKSHOPS:

My watercolor workshops are specifically designed for adults who have little or no experience with watercolors.
All participants advance through the workshops at the same pace.  Emphasis is on step-by-step experimentation and
hands-on work with various techniques to encourage continued skill development at home.  Students are shown how to
use their brushes, mix color, glaze, texture, and paint "wet-on-wet" and "wet-on-dry".
Students will practice mastering
these basic painting skills in the first half of the workshop.
In the second half, they will create a painting using these skills.
Elements of a successful composition, painting light and shadow, and creating aerial perspective also may be covered
depending on the overall level of the group.
